2011 Audi R6 Review-The supercar or Audi R8 as it is called, is Audi's response to other hot rod vehicles like Corvette, Viper and other high powered performance vehicles on the market. Mechanically, it's identical to the Audi R8 5.2 with its V-10 engine and Audi's signature quattro all-wheel drive.

The V-10 and Spyder models receive unique wheels, grille, headlights and side scoops.
Leather-wrapped power seats are standard, as is climate control, navigation, Bluetooth, a multi-function steering wheel and a premium stereo.

Both engines are mated to either a 6-speed single-clutch automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system.

Both passengers get front, side thorax, side curtain and knee airbags. Electronic traction control and stability control are standard, as is Audi's Crash Sensor, which unlocks the doors and turns off the engine and fuel pump.

This two-seat mid-engine sports car is named after Audi's Le Mans-winning racecar, and for 2011, it's available as a hardtop coupe and new Audi R8 Spyder roadster. A limited-edition GT model uses carbon fiber to trim 180 pounds, and it features a 560-horsepower version of Audi's 5.2-liter V-10 engine.

Distinguishing features include sideblade air intakes behind the doors that route air to the engine.
A navigation system with Audi's Multi Media Interface system is available. Audi says there's room for two golf bags behind the rear seats. Interior features include:
The standard 4.2-liter V-8 engine makes 420 hp and 317 pounds-feet of torque. The version in the Audi R8 GT makes 560 hp, and Audi claims a top speed of 199 mph.

Mid-engined, available with a 5.2-liter V-10 engine good for 525 horsepower and 3.7-seconds to 60 mph, with drop-dead gorgeous looks that don't channel anything else on the market--what's not to love about the Audi R8? The base engine option, a 4.2-liter V-8 rated at 420 horsepower, is still good for 4.4 seconds to 60, with your choice of either a six-speed manual or an R-tronic automated manual--no speed penalty for either. It carries on to 187 mph. With standard quattro all-wheel drive, the Audi R8 has plenty of grip, too.

Now for those tiny issues: the manual shifter's throws are a bit too long, despite feeling good once you get there; the optional carbon ceramic brakes are pricey; and those carbon brakes can be a bit touchy in daily duty.

Inside, the 2011 Audi R8 is a comfortable, high-tech, fully modern environment.
