New Infiniti JX concept

The seven-passenger, three-row crossover concept is expected to appear largely intact as the production 2012 Infiniti JX next spring.

Power for the Infiniti JX will come from a V6 engine, most likely the excellent 3.7-liter Nissan unit powering several of the company's other vehicles, coupled to what Infiniti calls a “sport-tuned” continuously variable transmission (CVT). "The three-row luxury-crossover segment is one of the fastest growing among all luxury-vehicle segments, providing a huge opportunity for Infiniti,” says Infiniti Americas vice president Ben Poore.

"And like every segment Infiniti enters, we plan to shake up the status quo."
Had enough of Infiniti’s recent barrage of cryptic teaser shots? Though Infiniti representatives dub this particular car a “concept,” we’re told it’s a fairly accurate preview of the forthcoming 2013 JX. Subsequently, Infiniti believes the Infiniti JX — which is sized between the sporty Infiniti JX crossover and the large QX56 sport-utility can succeed in today’s market.

“The three-row luxury crossover segment provides a huge opportunity for Infiniti,” Ben Poore, Infiniti Americas vice president, said in a prepared release. The sole interior photo released shows a cabin that resembles the FX but adopts the QX’s wood accents, chrome trim and upscale door panel accents. Infiniti also says passengers can tilt and slide those seats forward for access to the third row, even if a child seat is still installed in a second-row seat.

After weeks of revealing teaser images of its new Infiniti JX concept, Infiniti has officially unveiled the 7-seat luxury vehicle at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Infiniti says the three-row luxury crossover segment is one of the fastest growing among all luxury vehicle segments, so putting the Infiniti JX into production makes sense. The production Infiniti JX will be the first Infiniti vehicle to come with a continuously variable transmission. Infiniti vehicles are no strangers to advanced technology, and the Infiniti JX isn't about to change that.
