2012 Audi A6 Review

2012 Audi A6 returns as an impressive, large, luxury car that sits right at the top of its class. The Infiniti is comparably priced, but reviewers give it higher marks for cabin quality and comfort. The Audi A6's exterior is conservative, with sophisticated minimalism. The short overhangs create a lithe, well-proportioned profile. The cabin is both well-crafted and beautiful, with options for aluminum or wood trim to offset the lovely soft-touch materials. The standard front seats adjust eight ways, with the driver also enjoying four-level, power lumbar adjustment. On the 2.0T Premium and Premium Plus trims, heated seats are optional; they're standard on all 3.0T trims. Heated rear seats are also available. The 2012 Audi A6 is an excellent choice in the large, luxury care segment.

An all-new Audi A6 will be launched this summer as a 2012 model. The 2012 Audi A6 is completely redesigned with sporty, upscale styling intended to give it a muscular appearance. Quattro all-wheel drive directs 60 percent of the power to the rear wheels for sporty handling. The muscular new body work is quite slippery: The new Audi A6 achieves a coefficient of drag of 0.26 Cd vs. 0.29 for the outgoing model.
Audi said it took a holistic approach to lightweight construction, optimizing every component in the design process. Audi has not released the curb weight of the upcoming Audi A6 but said its body is more than 60 pounds lighter than the current-generation model.

Audi said an A6 Avant wagon model is not planned for the U.S. with this generation. Great balance – the car did everything well, from managing a mundane highway commute to ripping along a spirited windy road. The 3.0 liter supercharged V6 – Audi’s awarding winning engine building skills have paid off again with the supercharged 310hp V6. Depending on road surfaces, the degree of annoyance varied. Somewhat flat seating surfaces – the A6 Sport Package does not come with more aggressively bolstered S-Line seats that come with some other Audi Sport Packages.

Admittedly, I’ve always been an Audi guy. Over the years we’ve owned seven Audis, ranging from the fun to drive yet practical A3 to the vaunted RS4 muscle car. I’ve loved them all. I love cars, from stock econoboxes to sports cars, to lifted trucks and SUV’s. The supercharged 3.0 liter V6 is perfect for this car. The combination of good power and plenty of torque makes for a responsive car that performs well in any normal driving condition.

Audi says this unit is six percent more efficient than a standard 6-speed automatic. Impressively, highway cruising engine speeds are less than 2000 RPM. No wonder the car is so quiet and efficient under normal driving conditions. The 2012 Audi A6 also has the exclusive Drive Select feature, which allows the driver to choose the throttle response, shift speed, and steering feel of the car. For long, sedate road trips down the I-5, Comfort keeps everything quiet and efficient.
