Mitsubishi EVO SE 2011
The sticker price on our Mitsubishi EVO is $36,550 including the $760 destination charge. At more than twice the price of the plain Mitsubishi Lancer EVO it is packed with performance goodies: Bilstein shocks with Eibach coil springs, ventilated Brembo brake calipers on two-piece rotors, twin scroll turbo charger with intercooler, front strut tower brace, all-wheel drive, helical limited slip differential, a coarse six-speed, dual clutch automatic (or automated manual, some call it) transmission, paddle shifters, BBS wheels with Yokohama performance 245/40R18 tires, forged aluminum control arms, Recaro front seats, and HID headlights.
The six-speed automatic, dual-clutch transmission shifts firmly but not smoothly. The leather shifter grip reflects the performance image of the Mitsubishi EVO.
A bumper-to-bumper warranty covers the EVO for 3 years or 36,000 miles and the high-performance drive train for 5 years or 60,000 miles. The Mitsubishi Lancer EVO is designed to be driven enthusiastically, and that’s where it shines.
Slotting between the Lancer Evolution GSR and the top-flight MR Touring models is the exciting all-new limited edition 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution SE - the SE standing for "Special Edition," which borrows many of the best features from both models to create what may be the ultimate Evolution.
S-AWC regulates the drive torque at each wheel by controlling a network of advanced dynamic handling technologies including Active Center Differential (ACD) 4-wheel-drive, Active Yaw Control (AYC) rear differential, Active Stability Control (ASC) and sport ABS brakes. The Lancer Evolution features its own distinct suspension system, including inverted struts in front and a rear multi-link configuration, with numerous forged aluminum components to help reduce unsprung weight. Standard safety features include an advanced dual front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with occupant sensors, standard front seat-mounted side-impact air bags and side curtain air bags, plus a driver’s knee airbag.
Three other Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution models will be offered in the U.S. for 2010: the GSR with a five speed manual transmission; the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR that is equipped with a 6-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) - an automated manual transmission with magnesium steering wheel shifter paddles and a console shifter - Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs, two-piece Brembo front brake rotors, BBS forged-alloy wheels and HID headlamps; and the MR Touring model, more comfortably equipped for everyday use with a power glass sunroof, leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, rear lip spoiler, insulated front windshield glass and improved sound insulation.
The all-new Mitsubishi EVO SE features the signature EVO MR ‘shark nose’ front fascia, HID headlamps, foglamps, large side airdams, aggressively styled sloping aluminum hood with air scoop and heat extractors, side fenders with heat extractors, deep lower side extensions, boxed fenders, a working rear air diffuser with dual, 4in. wide polished aluminum exhaust tips, and special SE badging on the lower right trunk panel.
Yokohama Advan high-performance, low-profile tires.
The all-new 2011 Lancer Evolution SE doesn’t lose any of the MR’s high-performance magic under the skin.
the Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system (MIVEC) works on both the intake and exhaust camshafts for optimized power production and cleaner exhaust emissions. Hard–core driving enthusiasts will really enjoy the high-tech transmission found standard in the new Mitsubishi EVO SE. Working in concert, Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) modulates torque delivery to each wheel in real-time for maximum control.
The Active Stability Control (ASC) includes the Mitsubishi EVO’s vehicle traction control and stability control systems and helps to regulate brake force and engine power distribution at each individual wheel.
The Active Center Differential (ACD) uses an electronically-controlled hydraulic multi-plate clutch to split torque (up to 50:50) between the front and rear wheels. Acting in a similar fashion to a conventional limited-slip differential, the Active Yaw Control (AYC) rear differential utilizes a planetary rear differential, yaw rate sensor and brake force control via the Active Stability Control (ASC) system to control rear wheel torque for improved traction and stability in slippery road conditions and high-speed driving.
The S-AWC system is amazing to drive with. To improve unsprung weight, the control arms for both the front and rear suspensions are constructed of forged aluminum. Up front are 13.8in. The incredible braking ability of the Mitsubishi EVO SE is enhanced with 4-channel Sport ABS with EBD.
The new 2011 Mitsubishi EVO SE features numerous innovative safety technologies to help protect you and your passengers. Seven airbags are also included: an advanced dual front airbag supplemental restraint system with occupant sensors, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver’s-side knee airbag, tire pressure monitoring system, 3-point safety belts for all five occupants with load limiters/pretensioners up front, LATCH system for child seats, daytime running lamps, engine immobilizer and car alarm.
