John Cooper co-founded the Cooper Car Company with his father, Charles, in 1946. Today the BMW-owned MINI brand pays homage to its founder with the MINI John Cooper Works editions. The special edition MINI JCW lists for more than $6,000 over the Cooper S models and $10,000 over the standard Cooper. Offering more than just a hood scoop and impressive engine the JCW is further set apart from the Cooper and Cooper S with standard with 17-inch alloy wheels and an Electronic differential lock.
A short list of standard features worth noting includes the 12.4-inch Brembo brakes, stability and traction control, leatherette seating surfaces, and the usual braking alphabet soup of ABS (anti-lock brakes), EBD (electronic brake force distribution), and, CBC (corner braking control). Looking at John Cooper Works impressive feature set and performance figures it is safe to say that the legacy of John Cooper lives on.
Chili Red can now be specified exclusively for the MINI John Cooper Works and MINI John Cooper Works Clubman as a contrast color for the roof and exterior mirror caps, and can be combined with the Pepper White, Pure Silver, Midnight Black, British Racing Green and Eclipse Grey paint finishes for the body. The steering wheel rim, the gearshift lever and handbrake lever gaiters also have contrasting red stitching. The range of seat upholstery, interior colors, trim elements and Color Lines for all other models of the new MINI family has also been extensively revised. Among the newly introduced options are the Cross Check cloth/leather combination, the interior color Polar Beige, trim elements in Striped Alloy, Black Checkered and Pepper White, and the Satellite Grey and Toffy Color Lines.
