2012 Audi Q5 Reviews

Audi Q5
If you can afford to pay for the 2012 Audi Q5, test drivers say it’s worth every penny. Packed inside this upscale compact SUV are leather seats, wood inlays and upscale tech features, which will appeal to drivers who crave luxury.

If the 2012 Audi Q5 is at the top of your budget, Consumer Guide suggests sticking with the Q5’s base trim. One is the Volvo XC60, which starts at about $33,000 and offers up to 19/25 mpg city/highway, a comparable 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine and available all-wheel drive. Two of the most obvious differences are price and engine size. Generally, the Q5 has the highest fuel economy ratings of the two, at 20/27 mpg city/highway, but if you’re after a fuel-efficient six-cylinder, the base X3’s 19/25 mpg city/highway beats the 3.2-liter Q5’s 18/23 mpg rating.

This package includes 20-inch wheels, black exterior trim, a black grille and black roof rails, as well as aluminum inlays and embossed leather S Line seats.
There are four trim options on the Audi Q5, all of which have standard all-wheel drive. The base Premium trim has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and has standard features like leather seats, wood inlays and three-zone automatic climate control. The Premium Plus trim adds upscale features like heated front seats, sunroof and Bluetooth. The upper trims, the 3.2 Premium Plus and 3.2 Prestige, have a 3.2-liter V6 engine. Because the 2012 Audi Q5 is similar to the 2011 model, this review takes reviewer opinion of the 2011 model into account.

Measuring 4.63 meters (15.19 feet) long and 1.88 meters (6.17 feet) wide, the Audi Q5 is just 1.65 meters (5.41 feet) high, giving it a sporty appearance. This engine will return 22 city and 27 highway miles per gallon on premium (required) unleaded fuel.

The premium engine is a 3.2-liter V6 which produces 270 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. The Q5 has an updated version of the quattro all-wheel-drive system and a different transmission depending on engine choice. Both engines come equipped standard with hill-descent control and an adjustable air suspension. The overhang angle is 25 degrees thanks to the short front overhang. Additional extras for the Audi Q5 include the advanced key for keyless access to the vehicle, a tire pressure monitoring system, the large panoramic glass sunroof with additional tilting function, the triple-zone climate control system, sun blinds for the rear side windows, the dynamic cornering light system known as Audi adaptive light, an electric tailgate and a swiveling trailer hitch. The high-beam assistant automatically switches between the high and low beams.

Engine choices are a 211-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a 270-hp, 3.2-liter V-6. The four-cylinder teams with an eight-speed automatic; the V-6 drives a six-speed automatic transmission.
