the new Peugeot 4008 SUV based on the Mitsubishi ASX

After many spy images and previews, Peugeot has finally unveiled the new Peugeot 4008 SUV based on the Mitsubishi ASX. Not that there’s anything wrong with the ASX, the Peugeot 4008 is simply in tune with Peugeot’s latest design philosophy, offering a strong Peugeot identity and palpable European style.

Unlike the larger 4007 SUV, essentially a lightly face lifted version of the Mitsubishi Outlander, Peugeot's 4008 gets its own unique styling, with only the doors and other minor elements shared with the ASX.
The petrol range opens with the 1.6 liter four-cylinder engine, producing 85kW and 152Nm of torque. It will be paired with a five-speed manual transmission only.

Topping the 1.6 will be a Mitsubishi-sourced 2.0 liter petrol engine, producing 113kW and 198Nm of torque. Lastly, the 1.8 liter HDi FAP diesel produces 110kW and 300Nm of torque, also paired to a six-speed manual transmission.

Four-wheel-drive versions will also be offered, with three transmission modes: 2WD, 4WD and Lock.
In Lock mode the four-wheel drive transmission becomes permanent, with even greater distribution of torque to the rear wheels.

Available items will include many typical Peugeot touches, such as a panoramic glass roof, Bluetooth/USB connectivity and LED daytime running lights. The Peugeot 4008 - in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive - will complement the existing 3008 and 4007 perfectly in the Peugeot model range, and all three will be on sale side-by-side, Grant said. The compact SUV segment is exciting and growing and the 4008 will considerably broaden our appeal across the market. It will be our compact SUV while Peugeot 4008 is our luxury compact offering.
