Most recently, however, BMW added new accessories from BMW performance so M series enthusiasts can get some of the 2011 BMW X6 M series options without the M series price.
Not much has changed with the look of the 2011 BMW X6 this year, however, buyers can customize their new BMW X6 thanks to BMW Performance Accessories now available though BMW’s dealer network BMW Performance offers an aerodynamics kit to completely change the look for starters. Other aerodynamic options include a rear spoiler, matte black rear fins and a black front grill.

The 2011 BMW X6 is available with two different power kits, depending on which engine its equipped with. The 2011 version of the BMW X6 xDrive35i model has a total output of 326 horsepower and 332 pound-feet. Even with all of these modifications and improvements to the performance, BMW claims to have managed improving fuel economy in the 2011 model by about seven percent.

The 2011 BMW X6 packs eye-catching styling and high-octane performance into the body of a midsize SUV. The BMW X6 is a small, fun-to-drive SUV. Its BMW badge guarantees a high-quality interior and sporty handling. BMW calls the X6 a “sports activity coupe,” reinforcing its identity as a SUV and a car. One perk of the BMW X6’s high sticker price is the amount of tech features that come standard, even in the base model.

If the X6 ActiveHybrid is what’s attracting you, beware: Upgrading to the hybrid trim adds $31,900 to your X6’s starting price, launching the SUV’s price tag to $88,900. The Range Rover Sport also gets 13/18 mpg city/highway, which is comparable to the ActiveHybrid X6’s 17/19 mpg city/highway. If your heart is set on a hybrid luxury SUV, the all-wheel drive Lexus RX 450h costs $45,525 – about half of the BMW X6 ActiveHybrid, with almost double the fuel economy, at 30/28 mpg city/highway.

Based very closely on the popular BMW X6 Concept, BMW first launched the X6 coupe-crossover for the 2009 model year, calling it a "Sport Activity Coupe." Land Rover, for example, recently unveiled its LRX coupe-crossover concept.

The range-topping BMW X6 xDrive50i is propelled by an all-new twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 unit producing 400 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 446 pound-feet of torque between 1750 rpm and 4500 rpm. The engine is designed as a replacement to the company's current 4.8-liter naturally-aspirated V8. The X6's other engine is also a twin-turbo setup.
